But most of this businesses don't see that light of the day due to certain process not fully followed which business name registration is one of them.
Corporate Affairs Commission was established by the Companies and Allied Matters Act , which was promulgated in 1990 to regulate the formation and management of companies in Nigeria.
The establishment of the Corporate Affairs Commission as an autonomous body was as a result of the perceived inefficiency and ineffectiveness of the erstwhile Company Registry, a department within the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Tourism which was then responsible and administration of the repealed Companies Act of 1968.
Now i will quickly show you 5 steps on how you can have your business registered in Nigeria.
1) You must come up with 4 names in order of preference so as to file a name search at CAC each name search.
2) You must state the nature of the business, and you may require a professional advice if you will need to attach certificates to the CAC forms. Once search result is successful you will be contacted to come fill up the CAC forms.
3) You must know that the Regular registration costs (N35,000) and the duration is within 5-6 weeks for certificate to be ready.
4) You can now go to pick up your form and certificate, but note that Customized service's are also available (Some agents brings the forms to you to sign and deliver certificates when ready) but this attracts extra cost.
5) You will now need to start the process of getting your TIN number (Tax Identification Number) at FIRS (Federal Inland Revenue Services) which will costs you an extra N5,000.
