E-Campaigns

Democracy is the type of government that seeks the participation of all adult and qualified citizens of the country in the election of its leaders. this idea is so great that since it was introduced, a lot of countries of the world have adopted it as its form of governance, and those that have not yet adopted it, the world powers such as the United States Of American and the Britain, are making sure that they embrace it. In-fact democratic ideologies are spreading fast like wide fire. In the middle-east and in my great continent Africa, we have felt the grip of democracy.
Nigeria my country's journey towards the paradise of democracy, have suffered so many flat tires along its path by incessant military interventions, but by May 1999, the then, Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar led military government decided to give the democracy cake a bite, and since then, we have witnessed successive changes in government, even when we the citizens cry foul in the conducts of these elections, yet we have nurtured democracy for more than a decade now. I will say a very big congratulations to all that made this history.
But in today's write-up, i will be concentrating on the e-campaigns, as one of the tools that can be used to win elections, and push idea's far enough to win elections. Since in the advent of the internet into our society, a lot have really changed both on the good side of life and of course the bad side also, as everything in life has got its positives and its negatives.
 E-meaning electronic
Campaign which means the selling of ones or his political parties beliefs and ideologies. So both words coined together meaning using the electronics to push for the spread of ones ideology in other to win an election. Social medias have really helped in spreading information's so fast across the globe and even reaching out to a more wider coverage.
What are then the advantages of the e-campaigns:
  • Wide Coverage: when you make use of the internet, you tend to meet more people from all classes,     sex and religion that will definitely believe or that will accept your ideology. Where you campaign posters will not even reach due to so many factors, you can reach with help of the internet. Pressure groups from outside your country could help you in the campaign by posting and selling your idea's on their various webs.
  • Fast: when you adopt the e-campaign strategy, you cover a wider range in a more fast and convenient time frame. Nigeria's general elections is coming up by February next year, with a well mapped and strategic e-campaign a candidate can still sell his ideas, that will match that of a candidate's doing it offline.
  • Cost Effective: the idea of e-campaign makes campaign less expensive to run. you are not paying any group of people to run the streets, beating drums and making noise in the name of campaigns. Here you employ the service of a few group that seats behind their computers or use's their phone, to get your campaign job done.
  • Safe: when you use e-campaign, you tend to be safer, and your campaigners lives are safer than the usual campaigns we have witnessed in our society, where tugs from opposition parties attack supporters of the other groups.
  • Fun: I cannot under-estimate the place of making campaign fun and interesting. Here people from various social strata come together, not mind their class, as class here does not really matter. You don't even know who the next person on the other end is, and ideas are shared and fun.
  • More Participation: Through the help of e-campaigns also, all of people participate into politics. Like foe those from the far north, were women are not allowed to mingle with the opposite sexes that are not there husbands, with e-campaigns, you could reach out to the and sell your ideas to them also and thus wining their votes also on the election day.
Time will fail me if go on to enumerate the advantages of e-campaigns in our modern world today. So the government and the stake-holder should come together to promote this new found way of campaigning. It will safe us  a lot as a nation that still want to uphold the tenet's of democracy.
everyone should be part of elections, as during campaigns we the citizens learn so many things about our beloved country and its economy that have been hidden from us.
Schools could also key into is by following on the campaigns going on in the country, in so doing, student will be knowledgeable enough about the day to day running of the government of the countries they belong to.
Let all welcome the e-campaign and see it as a welcome development that have come to stay with us for a much more longer time of our time.
